Educating the Masses:  Information Security Classifications

Garry LaRiviere,
Manager, Corporate Information Assets, Policy and Control
AECL

March 11, 2009
11:30am to 4:00 pm
Norwood Hotel, Winnipeg MB

Part one of this 1/2 day session explores how AECL faced the challenge of having employees mark their information with the appropriate Security Identifiers, striking the right balance between a robust complex Procedure and an approach that would be straightforward enough for people to use effectively. The second challenge dealt with was to find ways to build a more supportive set of communication and learning tools to help people be successful. It will also offer participants a concept of how to introduce and communicate Information Management practices into their organizations, supporting their responsibility to protect information assets they handle in the context of the organization's Records Management program.

Part two will provide participants with an overview of AECL's e-learning environment relating to the fundamental principles of Information Management.  This will include an overview of AECL's 5-step easy to understand online resource that incorporates a series of Computer-Based Training modules. A live demonstration of the Security Identifier computer-based training module will round out the session.
